How much sun is good for us?
Our sun consciousness has developed well in recent years. Almost everyone knows meanwhile, that you shouldn’t lie in the blazing sun between 11 and 15 h in summer. Most people also associate sunbathing with sun protection. However, there are still some areas of uncertainty:

When should you apply sun protection?
The skin should be applied with sun cream 30 minutes before it is exposed to the sun’s rays. This means that it is best to put the sun protection on in your room on vacation.

Which sun protection factor should I use?
The sun protection factor increases the skin’s own protection time. A sunscreen with SPF 30 therefore increases the self-protection time by 30 times. Sensitive skin often only has a self-protection of 2 minutes in summer without turning red. With SPF 30, she can stay in the sun for 60 minutes without getting sunburned. In principle, the following applies: the more southly you are exposed to the sun, the higher the sun protection factor should be. You should generally avoid sunlight between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Can I stay in the sun longer if I apply lotion more often?
Unfortunately no, frequent creaming does not increase the sun protection. However, you should replace the sun protection when you have been in the water, because even waterproof sunscreens no longer protect the entire area by drying them out.

How much sunscreen do I need to use to be well protected?
Sunscreen needs to be applied liberally so that it really protects. It can be assumed that 3 tablespoons of sunscreen are necessary to protect the entire body skin of an adult from the harmful effects of sunlight.

Do I have to apply lotion in the shade?
Yes, because approx. 50% of the sun’s rays also reach us in the shade.

Can I use sunscreen from the previous year?
Basically yes, if it has not changed chemically and has been stored cool. However, if the cream has decomposed or smells strange, it should be disposed of.

Can I use my normal body lotion after sunbathing?
After sunbathing, the skin needs a lot of moisture. If the everyday body lotion used is highly moisturizing, there is nothing to be said against it. Special after-sun products contain an extra portion of moisture and often have additional cooling and calming ingredients that provide sun-baked relaxation under the skin.

How do I care for my facial skin after the sun?
Moisture is also important here. The skin needs a “thirst quencher” in the form of a cream that replenishes the moisture deposits. If you want to do something good for your skin, you can also apply a moisturizing mask 2 to 3 times a week. Ampoules with hyaluronic acid or white tea also moisturize and soothe the skin.
Well prepared, sunbathing becomes a pleasure that brings joy to life!
